Trasea and Luke are so blissfully in love! These two met years ago. Their love story is truly one of fairy tales. They both attended the same high school, but not wanting to get too serious, they dated here and there. After graduation, they both served missions.- Luke in Honduras and Trasea in the Philippines. Although worlds apart for a few years, upon returning home, these two picked up what they started years before and quickly knew that they wanted to get married! Trasea and Luke chose one of my favorite locations for their engagement session. This park is a little oasis in the desert affording some “green” and shade during the hot Tucson summers. I had the best time with these two! They both have the most infectious laughs and smiles! Just as most photo sessions go, there were some nerves at first- I mean, taking photos is awkward sometimes :) However, the two of them quickly warmed up and within minutes it was as if I wasn’t even there. That is when sessions are just magical, when the rest of the world melts away and it is just about the two of them. This is my happy place, when I get to capture the pure joy and love that exists between a couple! I mean, just look at the way these two look at each other- it just melts my heart! There were so many favorites from their engagement session. I hope you enjoy seeing a few of them :)
Madi and Riley rocked their engagement session! We met up at Gates Pass, one of my favorite places in Tucson! Everywhere you look there are stunning vistas and the saguaros that are sprinkled across the mountain side are breathtaking! It was prom weekend, so we had quite a crowd that night, but once these two were side by side, they were in their own world! They have the most amazing connection and are so sweet together! These two are finishing up their studies, Madi with graphic design and Riley is going to be a brilliant tech genius :) We were joined by Madi’s Mom Jenni and her sister Jessi as well as Riley’s Mom Kelly at their session. It was the neatest experience to see all the love and support that surrounds this darling couple! I loved when Kelly was talking about the whole family dynamic and simply stated, “We love our kids, and we love each other too, so it works out!”. Isn’t that awesome?! I can’t wait for their wedding early next year! Congratulations Madi and Riley!
When I first met Kelly earlier this year she shared her proposal story with me. Can I just say, I absolutely LOVE proposal stories. They just make me smile! Kelly shared with me how Ben proposed at the Tucson Botanical Gardens with their friends and families watching behind the bushes :) Ben even dressed up her fur babies Max and Ruby in a wedding dress and tux! How cute is that?! From our first conversation, I just adored Kelly, she is just as sweet as she is gorgeous! I couldn’t wait to meet her sweetheart Ben, and meet the other half to this dynamic duo! When Kelly and Ben arrived at their engagement session they were dressed to impress! Their black and white attire popped beautifully off the desert landscape. I had the most amazing time with these two. They are both naturals in front of the camera, and I loved getting to explore Honey Bee Canyon with them. These two have such an amazing connection with each other. They are so playful, joyful, and full of laughter! It was a fun surprise to learn at the end, that Ben knows my Father-in-law as well. It seriously is such a small world. Kelly and Ben, Congratulations!! Your wedding at La Mariposa is going to be incredible! I can’t wait!
When we booked our flights for our family vacation to the island of Kauai, I immediately knew I wanted to organize a styled shoot while there. The last time we visitied Kauai was when our oldest was just 10 months old. I absolutely fell in love with this island four years ago during our first visit, and had been dreaming of visiting again since. Kauai is so lush and green, a far cry from the desert of Tucson, Arizona. I was eager to capture the beauty of this island that I love! I anxiously began to organizing my first styled bridal shoot. With each vendor that I met, I became more and more excited. Not only were each of these women incredibly talented and creative, but they were so genuine and warm. I truly experienced the spirit of Aloha! What's more, is that I found a fellow AJ photographer who wanted to fly in and participate in the shoot as well. I couldn't wait to share this experience with Dana Arnold.
As the day drew nearer for the planned shoot, the couple I had originally had planned to model wasn't able to. I tried not to panic, I mean, it was only the day before! Generously, the original model, Daphene, connected me with Ryan, a friend of hers who recently got engaged to Holly and they were looking for someone to take their engagement photos! It truly was meant to be!
I love to hear how people from the mainland come to call Kauai home. For Holly, she had an opportunity through work to move to the island with a friend of hers. She is an occupational therapist assistant, and I enjoyed our healthcare connection. She then shared with me how she met Ryan. As I listened to how Ryan and Holly met, I was all smiles! Their story is truly the stuff movies are made of. These two originally met at a local restaurant, but coming out of a relatioship, they both weren't ready to jump into a new one. However, fate kept bringing these two back together. They would share long, heartfelt, deep converstations that all love stories are made of, but it took time for them to call each other home. Eventually these two found their way to each other, and they knew that they had found the person to adventure through life with.
The day of the shoot couldn't have been more perfect! I had vistited Moloaa Bay earlier in the week and fell in love with it. It is the perfect combination of tropical green and ocean vistas. And fun fact, the original Gilligan's Island was shot at this location. As I walked down to the beach to meet the women that I had been coordinating with, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the time and talents that they shared to make this shoot a sucess! I mean, you will see for yourself as you look through these images! Their work is phenomenal! As Dana and I began capturing photos of this darling couple, we were both thrilled at how natural and comfortable these two were in front of the camera. They are so in love and the chemistry between them was off the charts during our session! I loved that they were always sneaking kisses and the adoring glances that they kept giving each other just melted my heart! Both of them having the most infectious smiles! You know, the kind of smiles that just radiate joy and leave you smiling? I am so excited for their wedding that is coming up in December. I wish them all the joy and happiness in the world! Congratulations Ryan and Holly! I loved getting to know you both!

I met Nicole and Scott for our sunrise session at a trailhead in the Catalina Foothills. The weather was humid, but being early in the day it was a bit cooler out. The trail was quiet, as we set up for our first shot. These two commented how they were so excited to finally enjoy being with each other. Life has been chaotic for these two- between wedding planning, Nicole's move to Tucson, starting a new job, and arranging school schedules for kids. It was so sweet to watch as they put all that stress behind them, even for just a moment, and soaked in their time to simply be with each other during our session.
When I first met Nicole and Scott I was drawn to their magnetic personalities! They are both so warm, genuine, and always keep me laughing. They are so loving and easy going, and made our engagement session so fun! The endearing looks they gave each other, the kisses they would sneak, and the laughter they shared was so inspiring! After we finished exploring the desert, we made our way to another location, Tohono Chul Park. I have always loved this spot! It is gorgeous and I have always admired the large, wooden doors when you enter the restaurant. This stunning couple drew lots of attention from visitors at the park. It wasn't surprising that people would stop and smile as they passed by these two.
I love the story of how these two met. It truly was meant to be! Scott had moved back to Tucson from the South to be closer to family. Nicole had been living in Phoenix. Both of them were on the same dating app, but Nicole had her settings set to only people within a 5 mile radius. Tucson is 113 miles from Phoenix, give or take! So how did these two find each other? Well, last December, Scott was traveling through Phoenix to Flagstaff to join his nieces for some holiday activites. He happened to turn on his app as he was passing through Phoenix at the exact moment he was within 5 miles of Nicole! I still get goosebumps thinking about it! What's more is she just changed her dating age criteria, which Scott wouldn't have met if she hadn't changed it. I mean, if that isn't fate, I don't know what is! They both shared, that once they met, they knew immediately that they would marry one another.
Nicole and Scott, I had so much fun during our engagement session! I loved getting to know you both more and I am so honored to have the opportunity to capture the beginning of your love story! I can't wait for your wedding this fall! xo!
